Hiding Out In The Toilet

You know that you’re in for a good week when you didn’t even make it to midday on Monday before resorting to hiding out in the toilet.

Bank Holiday Day Tripping

It was a three day weekend so I decided to head off out, it turned out to be a bit of a mistake. It was far too hot, far too bright and I was wearing far too much black (is there really such a thing as too much black?) to be even remotely comfortable. In fact it was so hot it started to make my bag a little bit melty.

I Am Not Good At Mondays

Yesterday was thoroughly shitty, work was horrendously busy, every time I tried to settle in and concentrate on a job someone would bother me and it would take forever to get back on track. Basically I got nothing done and felt like, if anything, I'd set myself back a day rather than making any actual progress.

I got back last night feeling mentally and emotionally dead on my feet, all I wanted to do was collapse on my bed and let the oblivion of sleep take me away. Instead of just giving up, I sucked it up, actually managed to feed myself, got my daily chores done and even took myself out for a walk. I took myself out into some woodland near where I live to clear my head and chill out a little, I’m not sure if it really worked, but today’s a different day so all I can really do is start over and keep going.

I Think I Might Have Had A Bad Day

I'm sure people use the word "irregardless" just to annoy me, the word you're looking for is either "irrespective" or just "regardless". "irregardless" isn't a word, it does not exist and if it did it would essentially mean the opposite of what you think it does.

Monday Morning

A bucket full of coffee and a treacle tart is an essential part of any balanced Monday breakfast. The really sad thing is that this might be the nicest thing that I eat all week.

Tell Me Why I Don't Like Mondays

I'm starting to understand the apparent hatred of Mondays that exists in the general populace as I, myself, am starting to develop it. Fortunately for me I have my two oldest and most faithful friends to keep me, more or less, sane, alcohol and fiction.

I have recently started to read Jason Bradbury's Dot.Robot and I am enjoying it very much. I have to admit when I first came across it, tossed at the back of a charity shop bookshelf, I didn't hold up much hope for it. But the cover interested me and the fact that I recognised the name of the author lead me to part with the mammoth amount of 20p, which I now consider money well spent I might add. At first it seems slightly childish, almost as if the author is the main character himself (as there is no doubt many parallels between the two) writing a fantasy about himself as a form of escapism. As you work into the book, however, it becomes more developed and takes on a stronger form and a sort of realism of it's own, generally helped by the authors understanding of current and, not to far, future gadgets and technology. I am only half way through the book myself so can not really comment any further and as always I am loath to post spoilers, I expect to finish it within the next few days so I may talk more about it then, however, I may not.
